The Steambans team would like to wish all our friends, submitters, partners and affiliates a merry Christmas and great Happy Holidays.
2009 is coming to an end but the work still remains. steambans.com staff will have a break until 2010 and we will be back with fresh motivation.
Sadly our work on the system/security fix is more difficult than we suspect in the first place.
That why we won't be able to reopen the submission in 2009.
As you might know, the SteamBans development team is currently working hard on a brand new plugin for HL1 and HL2 servers, to make things faster, more stable and reliable for the future.
Next to that, Im very proud of the team we had for the past few years and months as they have been working very hard to review the thousands of demo's that are being sent in every week.
And since 2008 is almost over it's time for us to welcome a brand new year with lots of new things to come. SteamBans is still the number 1 anti cheat community for over 9000 Half-Life 1 and 2 servers worldwide and we are proud to be in this position, still after all those years.
You can expect a lot of things to happen from the SteamBans side, as we always strive to continue making our services as good as possible.

Right now our developers team is working very hard on the new Steambans system that will be ready somewhere in the beginning of 2008. The new system will include a whole 'Olly'bunch of changes and optimizations and to give you a little taste of what's coming, here are some of the new features:
New site layout, design and structure for easy nagivation
Implementation of the Sourcebans system which includes your own custom banlist and admin management functionality (SourceMod)
Revised plugin with enhanced features and functionality (more details soon)
Multiple servers worldwide for faster access (thanks to TechConnect, Evolans, Killercreation and NuclearFallout)
Ofcourse there is way more to come but for most things we just want to wait until they are completely implemented and ready to be used.

As part of the Christmas gift, we've decided to release new plugins all for you
These plugins contain security updates, and fixes for the 022 and 023 bugs, and a bug that occurs when running ManiMod, Bots and SBSRC.
You can as always find the plugins in your download section.
These plugins contain a number of security updates, and will be the required plugin from some day soon, so we're going to disable the other plugins.

As you can see on the left, the staff hasnt stopped working since we closed the submission page, and we're now at a backlog of below the 4k submittions, that's excluded the ones we're forced to drop soon.

We're still investigating the issues with the SteamID's and we're hoping to open the submittion page as soon as possible.
PS: Windows Source users, please read the helpfile, there have been some changes regarding your servers.

SBSRV Linux plugin Released
We are happy to announce that within the next few days the LINUX version of our plugin that has been undergoing extensive BETA-testing the last 6 weeks is being released. You will within the next 24 hours see a different team management page (if your a team admin) what will allow you to register your special SB License you need to use to install the plugin. Later there will be provided links to the latest version of the plugin + the readmefiles and documentation.
SB-Scanner v.2.0 Released
Our v.2.0 scanner that support Source and hl2 servers is being released within the next 24 hours aswell. This scanner has also been undergoing extensive testing, though not as much as the plugin, and we have successfully removed bugs that existed in the old scanner.
HLG gets a SB backbone
We cannot release all information regarding HLG and SB collaboration, however we can announce that the HLG team has decided to addapt the complete SB Backbone system that allows it to have the same features as the SBSRV plugin. This will mean that within the next few weeks you will also have the option to install and run HLG servers through your Manage Servers page. There is more interesting news to follow on the HLG front, so stay tuned.
