due to the update of Counterstrike Source to the Orange box engine the old steambans plugin (sbsrc) for ep1 games doesn't work anymore.
Please use the Source-ep2 files to get the plugin working. You find them in your Manage Server Subpage.
Unfortunately with this engine change old demos won't work anymore. We managed to save the old game files and we will try to find a way to get the old demos running. But there will be no promise that it will work. We will keep you updated as soon as there is a new developement.
A little update for our hl1 community:
We will start the beta testing of the security fixed plugin these days.
Atm we are doing maintenance on all our webservers, so there might be some bugs and possible downtimes on the website.
No worries though as this time this is all planned !
Some more news:
Due to the last orange source update some server plugins aren't working anymore. So it's possible that sbsrc doesn't work proper. We will have a look at this as fast as possible.
The box with our plugin server had a critical error on his HD.
In the last days we were trying to recover data from that HD. Special thanks to KillerCreation for their efforts to restore our data and their generel support.
This weekend we are setting up another server box with a pluginserver located at our Techconnect datacenter (thanks to Viper).
We should go back to normal in the beginning of next week.
Update:
Pluginserver is running but not fully setup yet. Please ignore any possible errors for now. Protection is on again.
sadly we got word about a server plugin which allows you to exchange steamids. That means that we can't guarantee a verification of steamids at the moment.
As a result we have closed the submission for hl1 based games.
Our devs will have a look at this as soons as possible.

With our new plugins sbsrv/sbsrc 4.1.0 we are going to reopen the submissions. We thank all of you for your patience.
If you are running version 4.0.0 your plugin will update itself.
If you are running a version below 4.0.0 you need to download the new plugin from your teampage.
In the future we will only accept demos which include a sb_status version 4.0.0 or higher.
With the new start a submission limit system will be established to get us better control and monitor the current submissions. We know that you stored quite some demos but I hope you understand that a total overflow of submissions will end in a fast shutdown again.
Limits :
15 submissions per user
50 submissions per team
We will adjust these limits in the next time so find out the best limits for all submitters and our admin team. For all cs and cz submitters who still got submissions left your limits were adjusted that you can submit 15 new submissions aswell.
We suggest that you are using 2/3 of your limit for short and easy submissions and 1/3 for longer or work intense submissions.
Please post your feedback in our forums.
As of today we are fully synchronizing all bans with the gameME stats system and customers. This basically means that every couple of hours, both our systems will sync with eachother and flag cheaters known with Steambans on gameME and remove them from the rankings.
gameME: "gameME Stats brings exciting competition to your gameserver by integrating realtime statistics. This all-inclusive hosting service is offered by the leading provider of player and gameserver statistics, which used to be HLstatsX Premium in the past.
A gameME Stats account includes the generation of Statistics, Webpages, Ingame interaction, access to Global Services and much more."
You can find the gameME banlist over here.
And more information about their ranking program for HL1 and HL2 servers can be found here.
some of you may wonder why the submission counters on the front page have changed but the submissions are still closed.
We did a bugfix to these counters. In the past submissions which were marked for a quality control were not displayed in this overview. That is the reason why the counters were going up yesterday.
At the moment we are testing some other things on this system so don't pay attention to it.
we know it was a bit silent around here but people are still working on the problems. It's always hard if you face some huge problems and if the important work can only be done by a few of our longtime admins.
So what is the current situation?
Our devs are finished with the new plugin version and it is been tested in a closed beta. There are still some issues with hl1 server but it works on hl2 / orange box.
As you may noticed we have slipped up the submission system so we can manage our submission sorted by mods. This should help us to get a better overview on the amount of submission and closing/opening the submission for each mod.
We will also enable submission limits for each user and each team. This will benefit good submitters and will help us to filter and control bad or inexperienced submitters.
The important question overall :
When will we reopen submissions?
The answer will be : As soon as the plugin testing is finished and it works without any major bugs. It shouldn't take that long anymore.
greetings and thanks for your patience and support

steambans.com
The Steambans team would like to wish all our friends, submitters, partners and affiliates a merry Christmas and great Happy Holidays.
2009 is coming to an end but the work still remains. steambans.com staff will have a break until 2010 and we will be back with fresh motivation.
Sadly our work on the system/security fix is more difficult than we suspect in the first place.
That why we won't be able to reopen the submission in 2009.
today we are closing the submissions to get us time to recheck on the latest submissions. We got a huge amount of 1.6 submissions which need to be reviewed on a closer look.
Also we have some updates going on which will be added to our system along with changes to our proof requirements.
We try to be back as soon as possible and we thank you all for your support and trust.

The hardware issue with the pluginserver has been resolved, and it is now running again. Due to the backlog of requests, it may be a little slow for a few hours.
Last saturday our pluginserver went down because of a power supply failure. We are currently working on this issue, but still have to wait for the server provider to fix the hardware. Unfortunatly we can't tell for sure how long that will take.

One of the SourceMod developers (Antithasys) working on Sourcebans and many more projects, has created a very nice but handy plugin that a lot of you server administrators probably want on your servers. The plugin called Simple Spectate allows you to spectate a player and follow them through death with a menu and all the information you would need including an automatic sb_status call once you start following a player.
Features:
* Follows a player thru death
* Displays player name and steamid on screen
* Displays ipaddress to admins on screen (Menu/Panel Hud Only)
* Displays kills and deaths on screen (Menu/Panel Hud Only)
* Checks for Steambans availability and if so, uses sb_status
* Admin menu integration
You can find this very handy and free SourceMod based plugin over here.
at the moment we are working hard on our website to implement new systems which will help us to process demos better. These changes were mostly for the staff interface and not visible to the public.
However, there was one change for you. The ban submission was moved from the different team overviews. You will find it under Options now. We marked it "a little" so you won't have problems to find it.
Just choose the team and the submission will be linked to it.
To make full use of this site you need to register and be logged in. Once you are a member you can submit details of suspect players or protest if you believe you have been wrongly banned.
